Louisiana State Child Ombudsman Website Launches
The State of Louisiana Child Ombudsman website is now live, Legislative Auditor Mike Waguespack announced today.
Users of the site can find out more information about the child ombudsman and her work, as well as file complaints through the site.
The state child ombudsman is housed within the Legislative Auditor’s office, and the new ombudsman – retired Juvenile Court Judge Kathleen Richey – started work last month.
“This website offers Louisiana residents several different ways to connect with the state child ombudsman,” Waguespack said. “It also gives Judge Richey a necessary tool to carry out her work.”
In her role as child ombudsman, Richey is charged with monitoring and evaluating agencies involved in protecting and providing services to children, reviewing state policies and procedures to ensure they promote the best interests of children, and developing recommendations for educational advocacy, system reform, public awareness, and training.
